    Probably a battery operated radio with good shielding so any digital or analog noise the radio produces is minimized. You can run a Zenith Transoceanic Royal 1000 off of a 12v 20aH battery for several years off
    of one charge - its power draw is very low.

    Certain types (like most) receivers need protection from RDF searches!

    So if the search for the sercure persons would rise to full technical effort, the RX-gear creates an exposure.
