• Zombie deer disease

These messages started appearing a long time ago. But I thought this was another "duck of journalists".
It looks like they have finally decided to step up their asymmetrical warfare against the US.
I remember incidents with Asian hornets, mosquito infections, invasive contaminated vegetables from Asia. Now this is it. To be honest, I was expecting something like this.

    https://news.yahoo.com/zombie-deer-disease-could-spread-150841565.html

"Zombie deer disease" could spread to humans, scientists have warned as cases surge across the United States.

Chronic wasting disease (CWD), which causes infected animals to become listless and jittery, often drooling and grinding their teeth with a zombie-like blank stare, has spread to 32 US states and four Canadian provinces, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The deadly disease has cropped up in Kansas, Wisconsin and Nebraska, where more than 40 counties have reported cases, USA Today reports, and has also been found in 800 samples of deer, elk and moose throughout Wyoming.

"We're dealing with a disease that is invariably fatal, incurable and highly contagious," Dr Cory Anderson, the co-director of a CWD programme at University of Minnesota, told The Guardian.

"Baked into the worry is that we don't have an effective, easy way to eradicate it, neither from the animals it infects nor the environment it contaminates."

CWD's spread across the US could become a "slow-moving disaster" with the potential to spread to humans, Dr Michael Osterholm, the US epidemiologist who warned Britain of the risks to humans of mad cow disease, told USA Today.

In 2019, Dr Osterholm, the regents professor at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, told politicians that laboratory research suggested it was "probable" that human cases of CWD would occur in future.

This would explain the freaky deer within the recent netflix movie "Leave the world behind."

I for one have yet to see any jittery and listless deer running around. When I start seeing them in person, or videos of them on Telegram or the likes, I might be more inclined to believe it. However this isn't the first time there has been this "big deal" for us to focus on and then nothing comes of it. i.e. Bill Gates' deadly mosquito's, Monkey Pox, the child only pneumonia, the mass train derailments, etc. Seems the "big scares" come and go, and yet here we are just fine.

Not to say I won't be looking out for any deer and the like, on the contrary I believe there will be some bioweapon of some sort that affects animals. Beit ticks that poison the meat supply (deer, cow, etc..) or that make humans allergic to meat. Now if Zombie deer is a real thing, that lead to real zombie people, folks, start supporting your 2A.

CWD/Mad Cow/ Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) appear to be interrelated or parallel.

I never cease to be amazed at the ingenuity of the US's enemies. This is truly a form of evil genius. When you cannot strike directly, but you invent 1000 and 1 methods of attack without using weapons. Agree, despite the fact that asymmetrical war is terrible, the people leading it are simply genius in their actions.

If it is real, there have been no known human infections to date. The best I can find is that "studies suggest CWD poses a risk", but no information on any actual transmission - let alone to other species.

    Source: https://www.cdc.gov/prions/cwd/index.html

According to that article though, this doesn't appear to be anything new:

"Since 1997, the World Health Organization has recommended that it is
important to keep the agents of all known prion diseases from entering the food chain."

Until people start coming down with it and it is not a demonstrable hoax like Covid, then I will pay more attention to this.
