With places like os2site.com and the OS2BBS.COM filebase freely available, Hobbes isn't really needed anymore. The only action it's seenlately is from Martin Itruberide (sp?) of os2world.com mass dumping stuff he had.

I have a few programs on Hobbes and I'm sure someone, somewhere will pick up where Hobbes left off.

This is true. It's just sad to see it go... When I got the internet and
found both hobbes and os2bbs I thought I was in heaven! People who know
    what OS/2 was!! ;)

It definitely served its purpose. I've seen a lot of people mirroring
Hobbes lately and I think OS/2 World.com is trying to set up something like
    it.

I'm sure that the international OS/2 community will not let Hobbes die!

I was sad that a couple of years ago, my OS/2 Uniball Micro pen finally
dried up and died. I joked that it had outlasted the OS by several years
    - but not the fans and people running it, apparently.

... XT or AT, it makes a big difference.

OS/2 will never die. It definitly is a niche OS but it's a survivor.
