• Cleaning up email...

From Martin Kazmaier@618:300/50 to All on Sunday, October 29, 2023 18:43:00
Does there happen to exist a win32 or dos script to clean up incoming email from a windows email app? It's got a lot of garbage in it that plain text
    apps can't use.

Like an HTML scraper? Well, there's no "script" to do that natively that I'm aware of but there are programs that can do it for you.

A quick Web search turned up this freeware tool: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/htmlastext.html

"HTMLAsText utility converts HTML documents to simple text files, by removing all HTML tags and formatting the text according to your preferences."

Not sure what to do once mail gets to your app, but I used to use a
script called "procmail sanitizer" on a Linux host I used for mail. It'd
get rid of most attachment viruses, convert HTML to plain text and do a
lot of organization for me. It allowed me to check mail using PINE
nicely when I was traveling, and I could still read mail using IMAP on
Outlook if I wanted to when I was at home.
